HEART CHECK

June 10, 2020 THE MMA TEAM

Hi everyone! My name is Kaysha and I have an Instagram blog called His Word for Her and recently it’s been on my heart to share this message I’d like to call ‘Heart Check”

Before you read this, I want you to first prepare your heart for this message. Open your heart and mind to receive this message. If you’re feeling convicted or feel that God is knocking on your heart, act on it and pray for a change of heart and a renewing mind. In John 10 verse 27 God says, “My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.” So hear his message today.

Have you been asking God for something you desperately desire but haven’t heard back from God? James 4:2-3 says, “You do not have because you do not ask God, when you ask God, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives.” When I read this verse, I knew that God has been telling me to do a heart check. When we pray, are our desires displeasing to God? Does our will coincide with His will for us? He wants us to devote our whole heart to him for His desires to be our desires, His will to be our will.

In Hebrews 3:12-19 He says, “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God...Encourage one another DAILY so that none of you, may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” In our walk with Christ it’s so important to have accountability partners that will keep us spiritually in check, who will encourage us to remain intentional with our heart’s desires, and be strong in our faith.

In Romans 12:12, God is clear about not conforming to the pattern of this world but instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

In Matthew 5, He tells us that we are called to be the salt of the earth and a light to the world so that our light points others who are lost in the darkness to Christ. Often, I forget how important it is to remember that my calling is to be a light IN this world and not OF this world. In our walk with Christ it’s so important to have accountability partners that will keep us spiritually in check, who will encourage us to remain intentional with our heart’s desires, and be strong in our faith.

As  a high school student, it is sometimes seems easier to blend in with the crowd and keep my relationship with God private. But Jesus didn’t hide his love for us, he publicly died for us. God gives us his all and only requires that we give him our whole heart in return. Having one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom isn’t giving Him our whole heart.

So, how do we surrender our heart? In verse 7 of James 4 He says, draw near to him and He will draw near to you. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Submit and surrender whatever is holding you back from giving him your ALL.
