Shew me thy ways, O Lord;
Teach me thy paths. (Psalm 25:4 KJV)
Once a week, my daughter and I drive an hour for an appointment. In total, the meeting carves three hours out of our day. Her previous appointments were three minutes from our home, taking a few turns in the suburbs to arrive.
After a move, we traveled a highway crowded with truckers, day travelers, shoppers, lunch-goers, and the commuter crowd. I always arrived a bit frazzled. Then, we found another way.
Using the avoid highways selection on our map app, we tried a country backdrop. This trip is a few minutes longer, but trees, pasture land, and cows lining our path on a two-lane road was worth it.
Depending on the time of year, various wildflowers delight us, like confetti, without the mess. Sunflowers are on display currently.
With the change of view, we arrive at the destination relaxed and have much better conversations along the way.
Are you on a path that is leaving you frazzled?
You don’t have to travel a literal road to discover a better path. If relationships, financial worries, health, or employment is interrupting your peace, it is time to seek a new view.
God is waiting to show you better paths and ways in big and small things.
God, I have been hurrying down a path with uncertainty and discomfort. I am so sorry. Show me a different view and a different way in my situation. Amen.

This makes me want to ride along with you. No matter how simple, there is always some area in our lives where we can take a better path. Thanks for this beautiful reminder.
