Exactly 22 years ago, I dared to believe God for a supernatural birth experience.
In the 5th week of my pregnancy, I dreamt that I gave birth to a stillborn, a boy and the most beautiful baby I had ever seen.
That nightmare provoked me and pushed me into 'faith mode'. I instantly rejected that image of a beautiful dead baby. Instead, I took hold of the promise of God in James 1:17 (NKJV) that says, 'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning'.
Before this incident, I had read a book by Jackie Mize titled Supernatural Childbirth, and I had toyed with the idea of trying it to see if it works. The dream of the stillbirth was what pushed me to dare to believe God for not just a healthy baby but also for the icing on the cake, which is to have the baby pain free.
I knew from my medical knowledge that when a muscle contracts, it causes pain, and the contraction of uterine muscle precedes the delivery of a child.
I had to step outside my mental box of science-based facts and cross over to the truths of God's word.
I knew from the word of God that God can make my uterine muscle contract without causing me pain because Christ has redeemed me from the curse placed on that first woman, Eve, in the garden of Eden.
When Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden, God placed a curse on them. To Eve, God said in Genesis 3:16 (NKJV), "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain, you shall bring forth children". No wonder women go through so much pain, from menarche (first period) to menopause (last period ).
Thank God that when Jesus came, he broke the curse and set us free. Galatians 3:13 (NKJV) says, " Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us". So, I decided to take FULLdelivery of all that Jesus died for and received deliverance from ALL the law's curse, including sorrow during conception and childbirth.
I searched the scriptures, meditated on the promises of God and received a Rhema (a revelation of truth ) that became my anchor all through my pregnancy and the delivery process.
Also, I intentionally aligned my words with His word; this can sometimes be hard, especially when everyone around you believes otherwise.
After spending the first few weeks of my pregnancy in hospital for threatened miscarriage, the rest of that pregnancy was smooth and without any complications.
Being my first pregnancy, when I got to the delivery room ( I choose to call it delivery room and not labour room), the midwife expected me to be in labour for several hours, but in less than 5 hours, my baby was delivered pain-free, alive and well. A baby girl, not the dead baby boy I saw in a dream.
Supernatural childbirth, for me, was having a pain-free delivery and a healthy baby.
For someone else, supernatural childbirth can be that first IVF that was successful despite all odds, or the pregnancy that happened out of the blues after having a child by IVF or that pregnancy that occurred just after starting the preliminary tests to have IVF or it could be that successful IVF after multiple failed attempts. All these are testimonies of women that I know.
The most important thing is to believe in God to do the impossible. God is always true to His word. He will do all that He has promised if only we believe. And when we dare to believe God, He will always come through for us because He is not a man that He should lie.
