God may be many things to different people. He may also be viewed as just God to some others.
To me, He is more than just God. I have listed six things on who He is to me.
He Is My Creator:
Before I was knit in my mother's womb, He knew me and loved me. He created me in His image and chose me to be born into this generation to spread light, love and the good news of the Gospel to all.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 NIV
The same God that created the heavens and earth, stars, moon and sun along with all vegetation, sea and land animals, also created you and I in His majestic glory.
He Is My Redeemer
I didn’t deserve it, but our God is a God of mercy and full of love. So much love, that He sent His Son to die on a cross so that I could be set free. Those chains that were holding me back were broken.
My Jesus rose with all power and all glory. He sacrificed His very own life, so I could live the life that God meant for me. There is no other greater love.
Then they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer. Psalms 78:35 NKJV
He Is My Resting Place
Have any of you ever been burdened down with the circumstances of life to the point of needing pure rest? This is a type of rest the world cannot give, but I know the One who can. His name is Jesus.
He said, “Come to me, all of who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
Back in 2021, I had Covid. The first couple of days were okay, but as time wore on, I was having trouble breathing normally, especially at night.
I also battled insomnia, and would find myself awake at 2 or 3 in the morning. Finally, my body would doze off but fear crept in when it did.
I was afraid I was going to die in my sleep because my chest felt like it was caving in and I thought I was going to stop breathing. While battling this fear, I prayed and prayed some more. The Holy Spirit led me to Matthew: 11: 28-30 to give me His type of rest. I had to get fear out of my mind and get deep in the promise of God that He is always with me.
There is also a song that helped during that trying time. It is titled, “King of the World” by Natalie Grant. Every time I listened to that song, all I could hear were the words “King of the world”. When she would say those four words, something shifted inside of me letting me know that God has it all under control because I belong to Him and my life is in His hands.
He Is My Peacemaker
There are a few scriptures that I turn to when I need peace. Psalm 23, Matthew 6:25-34, and Philippians 4:6-7 are just three of them.
Back in 2012, I went through a trying time that I never had went through before due to losing my job at the end of 2011.
It started out as hurt, anger, confusion and went on to depression. I started believing the lies of Satan that “things will never get better” and “God doesn’t love me because if He did, He would never let me go through all of this”. Satan had me ready to give up...but my Jesus!
The words of Jesus in Matthew 6:25-34 are one of the things that gave me hope. What I know now that I didn’t know back then is the reason God allowed me to go through that hard stage. He had to break me from my old self and old habits in order to make me humble, whole and complete in Him. I needed peace. His Word became my peace.
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your Heavenly Father already knows all of your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:31-33

He Is My Provider
Some people call Him Jehovah Jireh which means “God who provides”. This makes me think of the story of Elijah and the widow at Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:7-24.
The Lord told Elijah to go to Zarephath and foretold him that whilst he was there, a widow was going to make him a meal.
According to the word that God had spoken, these things happened, however the widow didn’t have enough to make a meal.
When Elijah told her what the Lord said, she trusted and obeyed. She didn’t doubt or ask “how is it possible”, and what was the result of her faith and obedience? “For the jars of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry.” 1 Kings 17:16 NIV
There was this one week right after I got paid, I immediately took out my tithes, not realizing that I wasn’t going to have enough for the whole grocery list I had written out.
When the realisation hit me, I went to the feet of Jesus and left my problem there. I didn’t worry or try to figure it out.
The following Monday, I received a bonus at work that was more than enough. Praise God! The Lord is our Shepherd and His oil never runs dry.
He Is My Best Friend
God is the One that I can count on through thick and thin. I talk to Him about everything under the sun lol but seriously though, He is the type of friend to ‘sugarcoat’ things, but in everything, He does it with love.
I will forever be grateful for His counsel, provision, protection, discipline, assurance, love, patience, grace and mercy.
I know that He will never leave me nor forsake me and His love for me endures forever.
